Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions from procurement teams and engineers.

Capability

What Can You Make?

Our production capabilities and customization limits.

What types of displays can you customize?
We cover the full range: segment LCD (TN/HTN/STN/FSTN/VA), LED backlights, LED digital tubes (7/14/16-segment), character LCD modules (1602/2004/12864), and TFT color displays up to 10.4 inch. Custom icons, irregular glass shapes, and non-standard sizes are all supported.
What's the maximum complexity you can handle?
We specialize in complex custom projects: irregular glass shapes, custom icon layouts, wide-temperature operation (-30°C to +85°C), sunlight-readable displays, and multi-layer backlight assemblies. If it's a display component, we can probably build it.
Do you supply complete modules or just the display panel?
Both. We can supply bare glass, or a fully assembled module with backlight, driver IC, and PCBA — all built and tested in-house. For most B2B buyers, the complete module is the better choice because it removes coordination between multiple suppliers.
Do you also supply optical components like LGP and films?
Yes. Beyond display panels, we have strong supply chain resources for matching optical components — light guide plates (LGP), diffuser films, reflective sheets, brightness enhancement films, and optical lenses. You can source your complete optical stack from one supplier.
Process

How Do We Work Together?

From first inquiry to mass production.

What's the project startup process?
Step 1: Send your drawing, sample, or specification. Step 2: Our engineers review and confirm feasibility within 2 hours. Step 3: We quote tooling cost, unit price, and lead time. Step 4: After PO confirmation, we cut tooling and produce a sample. Step 5: You approve the sample, we begin mass production.
Can you work from a physical sample without drawings?
Yes. Send us the physical sample and our engineers will reverse-engineer the outline, segment map, pin assignment, display mode, and connection type. We'll return a specification sheet for your approval before cutting any tooling. This is the standard route when the original supplier is gone or the drawing is lost.
Can you build a prototype before mass production?
Yes — every custom order starts with a sample for your approval. You validate it in your own housing before we go to production. Sample charge is usually credited against your first production order.
Do you support OEM/ODM branding?
Yes. We support private label and full OEM production. We can print your logo on the display face, apply your part number on the label, and pack in your own carton design with your barcode. Your artwork, tooling, and design files remain yours.
Lead Time & MOQ

How Long? How Many?

Timelines, minimum order quantities, and rush order options.

What are the typical lead times?
Lead times vary by product line. Here are our standard timelines:

• LED Backlight/LGP: 3-day sample, 15-day mass production
• Segment LCD: 3-day drawing review, 15-day sample, 30-35-day mass production
• LED Digital Tube: 7-day custom sample, 15-day mass production (standard stock ships in 7 days)
• TFT Panels: 7-day FPC sample, 15-day custom sample, 30-day mass production
What's your MOQ?
Our standard MOQ is 100 pieces for custom products, and nearly 95% of our active listings fall within the 101-500 piece band. For first-time custom projects, we can often accept smaller trial runs below MOQ at an adjusted unit price. Standard catalogue items like 1602 modules can be ordered in smaller quantities.
Can you handle rush orders?
Rush capability depends on current production load and whether your tooling already exists. Repeat orders on existing molds are the easiest to expedite. Send us your required arrival date and quantity, and we'll confirm feasibility in writing before you place the order.
Do you charge a tooling/mold fee?
Yes — a one-time tooling charge is required for custom products because the mold is specific to your drawing. It's quoted as a separate line item in our 3-line quotation so you can see exactly what it costs. Tooling is retained for your exclusive use, and repeat orders of the same design skip the charge.
Quality & Warranty

How Do You Guarantee Quality?

Our quality control process and after-sales support.

What's your quality control process?
Every custom order is checked against a customer-approved golden sample before mass production starts. Then quality control runs through 3 checkpoints: incoming material inspection (IQC), post-bonding function test (IPQC), and pre-shipment inspection (OQC). The lit function test covers every segment and every icon — no dead segment leaves the line.
How do you ensure batch-to-batch consistency?
We use optical-grade materials from certified suppliers and control the LED binning process in-house. Every digit in one module and every module in one batch is brightness and wavelength matched. Each batch undergoes aging tests and spectral measurement before shipment.
What warranty do you provide?
We provide a 12-month warranty from shipment date covering display function failure caused by manufacturing defects. Report a defect with photos or a short video, and our engineers respond within 24 working hours. Confirmed defective units are replaced free of charge in your next shipment or credited against your next order.
Do you perform reliability and aging tests?
Yes — available on request. Tests include high/low temperature storage, temperature cycling, humidity soak, vibration, salt spray, and continuous power aging. Please tell us which tests your qualification plan requires and we'll include the data with your first article report.
What certifications do you hold?
We hold ISO 9001, RoHS, and REACH certifications. Material declarations and compliance documents can be issued per shipment on request. If your destination market requires a certificate we don't currently hold, tell us early — some approvals are granted at the finished product level rather than at the component level.
Payment & Shipping

How Do You Handle Payment & Delivery?

Trade terms, payment methods, and shipping options.

What payment terms do you accept?
Standard terms: 30% deposit by T/T bank transfer, 70% balance settled before shipment. For repeat buyers with a payment history, we can discuss other terms. Alibaba.com Trade Assurance orders are also accepted (please confirm with us before placing).
What trade terms do you offer?
FOB Shenzhen is our default. We can also arrange EXW, CIF, or DDP on request. Shenzhen and Hong Kong ports keep transit to Europe and North America predictable. Tell us your destination port or door address and your preferred term, and we'll quote accordingly.
What shipping methods do you offer?
Air, sea, and express courier are all available — quoted per order weight, volume, and target arrival date. Express suits samples and urgent small batches. Air suits mid-volume with a firm deadline. Sea gives the lowest freight per piece on full production runs.
Can you ship to a third-party or Amazon warehouse?
Yes. We can ship to a nominated warehouse, including a marketplace fulfillment center or your freight forwarder. Warehouse intake rules differ on labeling, carton limits, and booking windows — please send the receiving requirements in advance so we can comply the first time.
NDA & IP Protection

How Do You Protect My Design?

Data security and intellectual property protection.

Do you sign an NDA before receiving my design files?
Yes. We sign NDAs before any design file, drawing, or artwork is exchanged. You can send your own NDA template, or ask us for ours.
Who owns the tooling and artwork?
Your artwork, tooling, and design data remain your exclusive property. We retain them for 3+ years for your repeat orders, but we never share, sell, or reuse them for other buyers.
Will my design be used for another client?
Absolutely not. Your custom design is not offered to other buyers. We only share it with the internal team members who need to know for your project — and they're bound by NDA.
Technical FAQ

For Engineers & R&D Teams

Technical questions about display selection, driving, and integration.

What's the difference between TN, HTN, STN, FSTN, and VA?
TN is the lowest cost option for simple digits read at short distance (viewing angle ~40°). HTN adds better contrast and wider viewing (~60°). STN and FSTN suit higher information content and multi-line display (~90°). VA gives the deepest black and the widest viewing angle (~160°) — the usual choice for dashboards and meters. Tell us your viewing distance, ambient light, and segment count, and we'll recommend the right mode.
What's the difference between common anode and common cathode?
Common anode ties all LED anodes to one shared positive pin, and each segment is driven low. Common cathode ties all cathodes to ground, and each segment is driven high. The choice must match your driver IC and board polarity — the two are not interchangeable. We build both; confirm which your controller expects before we cut tooling.
What's the difference between static and multiplex drive?
Static drive lights every segment continuously — brightest and steadiest output, but needs one pin per segment. Multiplex drive scans one digit at a time very fast so the eye sees them all lit — cuts pin count sharply on multi-digit parts, at the cost of some brightness. Tell us your available pin count and we'll pick the scheme.
What connection types do you offer between the LCD and my board?
Four common types: metal pin (soldered mechanical joint), FPC tail (slim flexible route into a connector), zebra elastomeric strip (screwless assembly), and heat seal (thin, low-cost designs). Tell us the pitch, available space, and whether the unit is serviced in the field, and we'll recommend the connection.
Can you customize the viewing direction?
Yes — the viewing direction is set during polarizer lamination. Common choices are 6 o'clock (display read from below, such as a wall-mounted meter) and 12 o'clock (display read from above, such as a handheld device). Tell us where the operator's eye sits relative to the screen, and we'll select the direction and the optimum contrast bias.
Can you supply a sunlight-readable display?
Yes. A sunlight-readable build usually uses a reflective or transflective polarizer so ambient light works for you rather than against you. For outdoor meters and dashboards, we combine a reflective stack with a low-power backlight for night use. Tell us the peak outdoor brightness in your market and whether the display sits behind a window or a lens.
